黃大仙

took the MTR up to wong tai sin (huang daxian) today. Very cool complex of Buddhist and Taoist temples and a garden. I got a lot of very strange looks as I was the only non-Asian around. We walked around the area outside of the temple complex and got roast duck on rice for lunch. I ordered lunch for us using my mandarin succesfully for the first time as the servers spoke no English but could speak a little 普通話, so it looks like those classes are paying off. We ate in the park and got lots of long stares from the older looking locals. Either they're not used to seeing non Chinese doing things outside of a tour group or they're freaked out by an inter-racial couple. The younger people don't seem to notice or they don't care. Nam gets a lot of stares too, they can't figure out if she's Chinese.
