Wow

We got to our hotel in Beijing yesterday at about 5. Our hotel is very centrally located and is extremely swanky. We both felt a bit underdessed as we checked in. Our first excursion was to go buy a few bottles of water to keep in the hotel room. Nobody seems the least bit surprised to hear me speaking mandarin, possibly because they assume that Nam is teaching me.
Later we went to a very small and extremely out-of-the-way 'kao ya dian' (a restaurant that specializes in roast duck). The cab driver couldn't find it and had to ask several people on the street where it was. Eventually we got there and had the most amazing duck I've ever had.

Btw- it's really cold here. The weather in HK really spoiled us.
